A guardianship is the appointment of a person to make decisions for the care of a minor or an incapacitated adult or to manage the assets of the minor or incapacitated adult.
A guardian may only be appointed by a court after a hearing. Once appointed the guardian remains under the supervision of the court and must file regular reports with the court.
